Samsung YP-R1 Touchscreen PMP first impressions
Bharat | Jun 15 2009

Catching up on the not-so-latest in technology, Samsung has developed a new PMP that will come with a much-needed touchscreen interface, which will put the PMP in direct competition with the iPod touch, if you don’t consider their memory capacities of course. The newbie from Samsung, the YP-R1 Touchscreen PMP, seems inspired by their latest YP-Q2 PMP, which now gets a nifty 2.7-inch 400 x 240 WQVGA touchscreen. The device is expected to be packed with 8GB of internal memory and is slated to be fully compatible with a wide range of media formats that includes MP3, WMA, Ogg, FLAC and AAC on the audio front and MPEG-4, WMV, H.264, Divx, Xvid and RMVB on the video side. For better connectivity the PMP touts Bluetooth connectivity and TV-out which allows you to watch the stored media on a much larger screen. The player will officially hit the markets on July 30, but for those of you who’re really eager to own the player, you can pre-order at a decent price of £150 (i.e. about $250).
