Like we made those small mud houses and kitchens for our li’l sisters, back when we were young, child’s play that is. These big boys are making the submarines, no child’s play here though. They talk serious. After the Chinese and the yellow submarine, we’ve all so embraced – out of the Steampunk-nation here is Dean Johnstone with his own Steampunk submarine themed playroom, done for his friend Wayne Eyre (Dean’s sister didn’t require a Steampunk sub, I know).
Measuring astonishingly large at 12m x 5.5m, this personal empire of steaming desire comes complete with the all important periscope and tinges of plutonium-leaking torpedoes. Assembled at as absurdly high cost of $100,000, the rusting interior of a submarine is resurrected in custom wood and melted plastic sheets. Decked up to perfection already, Dean never wanted the fun to end there, thus he has fitted the sub with reclining chairs, a three-meter big-screen TV and a best quality surround-sound system. The speakers also come in handy to play out sonar and ocean sounds in the background.
