We were thrilled by the news that Microsoft was doing a Wii-like device. And when the news became official at the E3 there wasn’t a limit to our excitement for the fact that we saw a competition for the Wii, that’s singlehandedly dominated the motion gaming genre for a while now. Unwrapping the Project Natal, which constitutes a sensor bar for the Xbox installed under the TV to capture the movements of the users, Microsoft has turned the entire body of the user into a game controller.
With an RGB camera and motion sensors embedded, the new gaming console from Microsoft quite purposefully translates human body movements for the characters in the game. The sensor box also understands voices, recognizes faces and to an extent scans the original object for a virtual imagery of it, which can be used for the gaming purpose. So, with the Project Natal we have a new way up in gaming and gesture control gaming is finally real too. Video after the jump.
