Gunners bamboozled by Fulham
Bharat | Nov 30 2006

I had written a post yesterday where I mentioned that Arsenal’s game against Fulham would be a do or die situation for Arsene Wenger’s side or else their hope of winning a Premiership title would end as early as Christmas - and now that looks a certainty, after the Gunners were outplayed by Fulham. The Gunners terrible run in the League received an early jolt when striker Mc Bridge put his side up only in the fifth minute from kick off. Fulham claimed their first win over arsenal in 40 years through a 2-1 win at home -the visitors never recovered from the setback only to find Tomasz Radzinski double the advantage for Fulham.

Mc Bridge rose above all in the penalty area to meet Claus Jensen’s corner heading the ball past desperate Lehmann, the miseries for Gunners would double when Boa Morte’s cross fell just perfect for Tomasz Radzinski who finished with authority. Robin van Persie earned one back in the 39th minute with a brilliant strike from thirty yards to lighten the Gunners load however they failed to level in the second half.

Arsene Wenger’s strategy of resting some frontline players heavily marred the their cause - with the win Fulham climb into the busy top half of the Premier League table whereas Arsenal vulnerably hold the sixth spot where they may not stay for long as they encounter two busy London derbies first against Tottenham Hotspur and then against the reigning champions Chelsea: losing to Fulham, Arsenal have realistically ruined their title aspiration this season.
