Gender recognition system lets billboards display ads for your sex

Advertising has transformed the way we look at products that we buy. Now, how about an advertising system that displays only products that cater to your gender requirements? This could soon be a possibility if A*Star’s gender recognition system, currently in the pipeline is to be a reality. On display at the CommunicAsia 2009 held at the Singapore Expo, the gender recognition system is quite similar to the face detection system that’s become a growing trend in the high-end cameras lately, with the only difference being that this system from A*Star detect faces only when they are facing the camera. Advertising being the main focus of the technology, the future could have digital billboards which display advertisements only pertaining to the person looking at it.

How is the system going to behave when both men and women gaze at the display, or when a male wants to enjoys ads relating to female products? That will only be evident once a practical version floats, until then just keep reminding yourself that it’s coming. And get down to working yourself younger, because A*Star is also working on an age recognition system, and I know you don’t wanna look old when it’s up, so ladies there, are you game?
