Diamonds aren't enough: Clijsters
Bharat | Feb 14 2007

Kim Clijsters could perhaps be lured to a return from her decision to retire next season by the diamond-studded racket.

But the 23-year-old’s decision to quit the sport seems as hard as those diamonds itself - Clijsters is competing in the Diamond Games title in Antwerp if she wins here, she could be in contention for the diamond-studded racket worth $1.30 million which is awarded for three title wins in five years at Antwerp.

The Belgian sensation has won the title back in 2004 and finished as a runner up in 2003 and 2006 - however, the diamond racket is least that can entice her back to court, the former US Open Champion is firm with her decision and has refused to reconsider her decision to retire.

Clijsters told Reuters

No, I have made my decision and will not change my mind. Even for this.

Belgium has made it to the Davis Cup quarterfinals after beating Australia where they will meet Germany to guarantee itself a semifinal berth - Clijsters is excited for the same and leaving her personal feats aside wants to concentrate on the aforementioned and deliver for her nation before quitting.
