Casemods that we have featured here on GizmoWatch have been captivating in some way or the other. This Chest PC from Rob Higardea may not be outrightly striking, just like some of the others seen in the past, but is definitely a neat project, I thought was worth a mention here. Unlike the shiny metal exteriors, Robs got an old Via Epia motherboard, 1GB RAM, 80GB hard drive and a power supply system sitting inside an antique wooden chest picked from the Hobby Lobby store.
The chest is small enough to fit in a decent space at home, yet is big enough to house the computing innards with ample breathing space. The stuff inside is neatly spaced using wooden brackets and rubber spaces, while holes and vents have been drilled for the wires and air. The ChestPC is only good for web browsing and a little more maybe like storing photos and songs, but then we didn’t expect a supercomputer for simple items like those used to make it.
